Franklyn B Paverty was the pseudonym of Martin Fry, the sousaphone player in The Temperance Seven (see Wikipedia). Martin Fry's sousaphone featured in the band ... which has a substantial presence on YouTube (including their version of Ukelele Lady with Peter Sellars, Sergeant Pepers Lonely Hearts Club Band [with vocal by Petula Clarkes and Dudley Moore as the one and only Mr. Billy Shears ... broadcast on the BBC back in the 1970's] and a 2009 HD video of Hard hearted Hannah).
How the name is spelt seems to vary ... for example, this "expert" website has "Franklin D Paverty (see http://en.allexperts.com/e/t/th/the_temperance_seven.htm)
The suggestion that there was a paddle steamer on the Murray River named Franklyn B Paverty is a great rumour ... with very little supporting evidence.
